A multi-port RAID subsystem has multiple controller ports.
A server has multiple host bus adapters (HBA) or a multi-port HBA.
When you install OS on the server, only one HBA port
connects to the SAN during the installation and only one controller

What is multipathing?
Multipathing solutions use redundant physical path
components–adapters, cables, and switches–to create logical "paths"
between the server and the storage device. In the event that one or more of
these components fails, causing the path to fail, multipathing
logic uses an alternate path for I/O so that applications can still access
their data.
Cluster vs. Multipath
Clustering
The multiple computers and the storage device system provide high application availability. Multiple computers work together as a single system.
Multipathing
It is the redundancy of the storage network components (the cabling, adapters, and switches) to provide high storage availability.
